I ended up ordering several different styles of Tevas (as well as numerous other brands), and returned all but one pair. I ordered the Teva Tirra, Tirra Leather, Terra Fl, Verra, Hurricane, and Numa. The Tirra Leather has an awesome foot bed and great arch support, but runs a 1/2 size smaller than the rubber/nylon version, and the inside of the straps aren't cushioned nearly as well, which was the deal breaker for me. The Terra Fl has a slightly lower arch than the Tirra, and after 15-20 minutes of walking around inside my house, my foot with the plantar fascitis was bothering me. The strap cushion on those was equally good though. The Verra is super cute and the straps are nicely cushioned, but the arch is almost non-existent. The Hurricane has scratchy straps and a minimal arch. The Numa had a minimal arch as well.
When I initially ordered the Tirra sandals, I ordered a size 8.5, which is my typical shoe size. They seemed like they fit well at first, but the front of the ankle strap hurt after wearing them for about 15 minutes inside my house. On a hunch, I decided to order another pair a half size smaller. They're an absolutely perfect fit, and the ankle strap doesn't come up as high and isn't irritating at all like it was on a pair a 1/2 size larger.
I wore the sandals yesterday to our local amusement park and walked/stood for 11 hours straight. They definitely passed my test for comfort and support. They're not super fashionable, but definitely prettier than some other types of sport sandals. I bought the Simply Taupe color, which is neutral and goes with most of my summer clothes. I'll probably eventually buy a black pair as well, but I'm waiting for them to go on sale. We're taking a 10 day trip to Disney World later this year, and these will definitely be my main shoe for wearing while we're there.

My other sandals may have a comfortable footbed, but they often have only 1 adjustable strap, or the straps aren't long enough for my high instep. None are as durable -- I mean YEARS of use for Tirra.
Several things that are important to me when I select a good pair of sandals:
(1) all straps adjustable, especially the toe box because I have wide feet;
(2) cushy foot bed for my old bones;
(3) cushy straps to minimize constant rubbing on tender skin. As far as I know the Tirra is one of the few sandals with cushioned straps in the toe box area. It does not completely eliminate friction because I have to tape my heels after an hour of hiking, but I haven't had the need to tape my toes.
(3) supportive and stable enough for hiking in hilly and rocky terrain.
(4) good traction in and out of water;
(5) open toe with wide enough room for toes to spread out.
(6) light weight. I don't want to wear bricks when I need to hop from rock to rock.
One con of this shoe is that it relies on velcro to keep them on, and velcro does not stick when wet. So when you are around water, you have to remember not to take them off (unless you don't plan to put them back on soon) or adjust the straps.
I will wear it on a waterfall hike next time and report back on my experience. So far on dry land it's been comfortable with the exception of the heel area friction. It's not a deal breaker because every other athletic sandal I have tried caused a lot more blisters/pain than this pair of shoes. The only pair that beats this in terms of comfort and totally blister free while hiking was an old Nike pair that were long extinct from the market.
I am glad this sandal comes with half sizes. I usually wear 8 wide in women's sneakers but 7.5 in open-toed sandals. The Tirra sandals size 8 will fit but not the best, and appear too big. 7.5 is perfect for me so the sizing is spot on.
Look wise it's not a fashion statement but it's pleasant. Good for hiking, urban touring, running errands and water sports. You can wear socks in them if necessary.
Update: worn this pair hiking trails several times already and they became more comfortable each time. Today I hiked a little more than 2.5 miles in the blistering heat and my feet experienced no hotspots, not even in the heal area. I love these shoes! Will report back the next time I get my feet wet with them.
Update 2: worn this pair walking a 4+ mile trail including 2 creek crossings. They perform very well in water, drying quickly. I did get blisters on my heels again and required taping of the area about 3 miles into the hike. By the end of the hike my left little toe gets a hot spot. Note to myself: any hike longer than 2+ miles should tape my feet, or wear socks, or wear regular hiking shoes plus socks.
